General information

What is Luna Glass?

Luna Glass is a pair of night vision glasses that amplify light in the environment. It works through a night vision camera embedded in the frame. Images from the camera are enhanced, increasing contrast, brightness and color, after which they are displayed in the lenses of the glasses.

Luna Glass is effective for people who have a lot of difficulty seeing in low light conditions due to an eye disease. To use Luna Glass effectively, users need to have some remaining functional central vision.

Luna Glass is effective for people who are night blind. In our clinical studies thus far, we found the glasses to be effective for people with the following eye diseases: Congenitally Stationary Night Blindness (CSNB); Glaucoma; Macular Degeneration (MD); Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP); Usher Syndrome and Toxoplasmosis.

We also had some cases of people with other eye diseases like Macular Degeneration (MD) trying the glasses and finding them very effective. However, further testing is needed to validate these results with a larger group of people.

Luna Glass is very effective for people with peripheral field loss like tunnel vision. The glasses provide night vision across a field of view of 45 degrees (diagonally measured). For people with a large central scotoma (blind spot) the glasses will be less effective because the night vision is provided in the center of the visual field.

While wearing Luna Glass, you see a large screen on top of reality. On this screen you see the environment light up in color like it is daytime. The screen cover 45 degrees of your visual field.

Luna Glass is designed to support night vision. However, during testing, we found some users also find the glasses effective with daytime vision since they increase color and contrast.

This version of Luna Glass is not suitable for driving.

Features and specifications

Is Luna Glass available in multiple sizes (for example, a model for kids?)

Luna Glass is currently available in one size only, usable for all over 16. We are working on different sizes.

The glasses have a battery life of 1 hour. If you want to use them for longer, no problem. You can connect the glasses using a USB cable to most power banks and use them while they are charging. A small power bank will provide approximately 8 hours of battery life. Some newer smartphones can also be used to power and charge the glasses.

No, everything you need is integrated into the glasses, making them work completely offline and stand-alone.

Privacy protection was a core consideration throughout our design process. Luna Glass cannot record, store, or transmit photos or videos. Camera images are displayed only as a live video feed to the user and are immediately deleted.

The glasses come with special lens holders that attach to the device and hold prescription lenses. Your optician can fit lenses into the holderafter which you can simply click them into Luna Glass. People who wear contact lenses can use Luna Glass without lens holders.

We recommend using Luna Glass only situationallysimilar to how people use reading glasses.
